The event "The Role of Accounting in Public Schools, a State of New Mexico (USA) Perspective", held at the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ) and organized by Professor Branca Terra in partnership with Professor Raul Gouvea of the University of New Mexico (UNM), brought the speaker Maria Fidalgo to show the vision of accounting in the environment of public education in the state of New Mexico in the United States of America. This event was an UNM initiative related to the agreement E-26/007/5815/2015 signed between UERJ and UNM in 15/10/2015. It took place on May 22, 2019 and crowded the auditorium of the Faculty of Administration and Finance-FAF of UERJ.

A warm welcome to the December 2018 issue of Hélice!

This issue of Hélice is devoted to three Triple Helix Association’s events.

The first is a call for papers for the upcoming XVII International Triple Helix Conference in 2019 in South Africa. The Conference, with the main theme ‘Triple Helix – a Catalyst for Change’, will be held in Cape Town on 9-11 September 2019. The call for papers seeks to connect the Triple Helix with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs – Agenda 2030), and the AU Agenda 2063. Exploring this connection will be a major outcome and follow up of the 2019 conference. Please see this issue and visit for more details.

On 05/25/2018, Prof. Dr. Raul Gouvea, professor and director of the Department of Finance, International, Technology and Entrepreneurship of the Anderson School of Management (ASM) of the University of New Mexico (UNM) in the United States, attended the Master's Program in Accounting Sciences (PPGCC) of the Faculty of Administration and Finance (FAF) at the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) to talk about his work at UNM and possible partnerships between the universities. The professors Dr. Guilherme Portugal, coordinator of the Stricto Sensu Academic Master in Accounting Sciences and Director of FAF of UERJ, and Dr. Branca Terra, professor of the same program, were also present at the event.

The event will take place on November 17 and 18, 2017 at the University Center of Sete Lagoas (UNIFEMM), Minas Gerais. The Symposium is supported by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel - CAPES, the Professional Master in Biotechnology and Innovation Management of UNIFEMM and the Triple Helix Association.

On the first day will be presented several lectures and debates, a meeting with participants of the project "Proposition and Validation of Indicators of Entrepreneurial University" will occur on the second day. The main objectives of this project are to create indicators that allow the development of a ranking of entrepreneurial universities and identify the characteristics of the Brazilian context.
